Finally finished the deployment video that I have been working on for a while.
Had my battle buddies send me the pics they took during the deployment and some of them really opened my eyes to how close we came to losing guys almost everyday we rolled out. One of the guys had a picture of my truck after our worst hit, I was surprised cause I thought they towed it straight to the scrapyard. I got really lucky on this one because every time we rolled out I always sat in the back left seat behind the driver, but this time we got a call to go assist another unit under attack and in the rush I jumped in the back right seat behind the TC. On the way to the firefight this happened.
If I had been in my usual seat I would have gotten extremely fucked up.
We went through so many trucks during our deployment they had to let us go back to using our tanks because there were no other vehicles for us to sign for and take out. Each one of our platoons was assigned 5 HUMMWVs, or Humvees, by the time we left we had gone through our 5 originals and 4 others, so all told we used 14 different truck during the deployment. That isn't even counting the first 6 months when we only rolled out in our tanks. When we returned fire with the 120mm main guns on our Abrams the entire city would go quit because the insurgents knew the biggest kid was now on the playground.
This is my platoon, I'm second from the right standing.
Me and my mate Cross who rolled as gunner, top cover for my friends in the UK.
