yay. So I got paid last night, even better because I thought I wouldn't get paid until tonight, much less this weekend. Having food in the house is a good thing, indeed. I ordered my computer parts last night; 1 gig of RAM, a case fan, a USB hub, a USB extension cable, and a headset for my phone. It's an Xact phone, if you've ever heard of them, thye're kind of expensive and uncomfortable. I've been having trouble hearing people on the phone, but I have a 50% hearing loss in my left ear from getting borked with a shotgun. That might have something to do with it. But one thing that I've also noticed is that you have to hold the phone at a wierd angle to hear completely. Other than that, it's a righteous little phone.
Oh yeah, and my air mouse. That too. Can't forget that. Also, I ordered a USB sound card that was designed for these headphones I bought a couple of weeks ago. Another USB gizmo; hence, the USB hub. Right now, I have five devices and four outlets, and now I will need two more.
The air mouse is what I'm excited about. From last week's ventures, trying to get Windows 95 to run on this compter was such a...joy. See my last entry. I got it to install but when it was time to boot up I got some serious errors. But it was a good experiement. So much for the 3DZonemaster and MediaTech, a company that ten years ago manufactured these ultrasonic-positioning devices and didn't follow up on the support.
Also, I'm bidding on a video card identical to mine, a Geforce 6200. Why? Because shortly after I bought it, I found out that they manufactured some Geforce 6200 cards with 6600 chips. Now I forgot why. But I was looking on E-bay, and I recall someone saying that on these particluar models of the 6200 the RAM chips are at a 45* angle. Well, I found one. Cheap. A lot less than I paid for mine. That'll gimmee 4 more pixel pipelines.
