Jack Singer

John Joseph Singer, 75, of Fredonia, NY, died at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA, on May 5, 2005. Jack was born in Danbury, CT, on February 23, 1930, the son of Edmund F. and Mary (Melvin) Singer.

He wrote haiku prolifically and had a great passion for a variety of arts. Traveling and camping with family gave Jack genuine pleasure, and he was an enthusiastic hiker who also enjoyed cycling and running.

Jack was very involved with the Unitarian Universalist Society of Northern Chautauqua, where he served in many capacities and gave generously of himself. He also gave of his time with Meals-on-Wheels and was dedicated to the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry.

Surviving are his loving wife Judith (Kempf) Singer, whom he married June 28, 1986, and his children Edmund of New Haven, CT; Douglas of Bremerton, WA; Diana (John) Geisler of Vista, CA; David of Lansing, MI; brother George of Danbury, CT; four grandchildren, Michael Apple, Max Singer, and Ashley and Autumn Geisler; and his first wife Marie.
