most of my day today was wasted fucking around with comcasts shit... i get my cable installed and im told to simply run this cd and everything will work great. So i run the comcast fuck up your system installer on my old crappy computer knowing full well its going to put comcast ads all over my system and change all my settings.. but NO it wont run... I am informed you need a Pentium 300mhz with 128ram to run the program. AHH... Since my main computer (Pentium 4 1GB Ram) was broken at the time i decided to quick throw a copy of 98se on it and run the damn CD then fix it latter... Again NO luck... With no internet i couldent get my network card drivers as they werent built into 98se... so now im really pissed at comcast. Fuck it ill install Windows 2000 Server and run the CD that way... Atleast Windows 2000 Server has built in drivers for my network cards. So I format (again) and install Windows 2000 Server. Everything goes great untill i put in the fucking comcast CD... "sorry windows 2000 server is not capable of using out high speed broadband service" aparently the dicks at comcast don't want you to run a server on the cable that your paying for. Now im really mad (read throwing small objects). With any other cable service on the planet none of this would be a problem cuz the cable would work right out of the box but with comcast you absolutly positivly must run this stupid CD which simply registers your modmem with there service (most other companys just phone this info in but comcast aparently cant bother to pay the techs 10cents extra to make a phone call)... I had had it with this program... thankfully though 90% of it was writen in XML.. and you know what XML is editable with notepad... So the solution. Reprogram comcasts own software to work on any computer. Took about 30 minutes to reprogram there software. It now runs fine on my Pentium 100 with 80mb RAM and on Windows 2000 Server... I am thinking of buring a copy of the new improved software and sending it back to comcast. I also edited a few of the error messages in there software... it just needed a few more "fuck"'s in there so that the customer was aware of how badly they were being treated... for as big of company as comcast is you wouldent think it would be so easy to hack there software... the interface is so simple it would be easy to have some serious fun with this program... maybe an automatic script to register a million acounts... hmmm... back to programing
