they never cease to amaze me.
my oldest, who just turned 6 a few weeks ago...just read from an old reader from the 50's by herself...then wrote and illustrated a rough draft book report. she's in kindergarden. i don't remember doing anything more complicated than fingerpainting in kindergarden. i mean, yes, she has exceptional parents...her father could read newspapers at 4...and i was 6 in first grade...started reading when i was about 5. was always the best reader in class, and in ap classes, even though i was the youngest.
damn, i'm getting old...she just ran off to saying she's going to go practice reading. yup, definately her mother's child. luckily, she's quite the vocal mediator too. she radiates, and everyone loves her. she can make any two people forget their differences and get along...and can make anyone stop crying and have fun. i will always remember the daywhen she was stillan infant...she was about one in her carseat. i was sheltering a woman and her two children from an ass of a father...her kids were quite emotional and distraught. her 3 year oldboy crawled up to my infant, and put his head in her lap. he became calm, and was much more balanced after that.
i just hope that the world doesn't alienate her for being different, and make her crawl into her own head the way i did. it's a lonely place to be when you're a kid...and any time in your life for that matter.
my two year old is singing twinkle twinkle perfectly in key...no wonder she always tells me to shut up when i sing.

But she'll be the one firing them later on.
