I did a Victorian Ballgown shoot in a real Victorian Mansion last month. It went really well, especially being that it was my first "real" photo shoot... (The first time I had someone other then my kids posing for me and all... Normally, it's more photojournalistic.) I also have 6 other people that I'm trying to work out dates for their photo shoots.
And I have a couple possible trips coming up. Alan has a family reunion happening in January 2011. It's on a 4 day cruise. It leaves from Miami, hits Key West, then one day in Mexico! I'm trying to get pushy about us being able to go. I love his family and all, but I really want to go just to be able to get away from here! LOL! Then, one of my cousins is getting married in February in Naples, FL! I've never been invited to a family wedding in my adult life, (last one I went to was when I was about 12). Added to all that, September 2011, I was asked if I could shoot my sister-in-law's wedding in Chicago! If all goes well, I'll be taking 3 trips next year.
As for our living situation... I think I figured out what the problem is.We've been trying to decided between having a sailboat and a house... Well, honestly, there are ups and downs to both. What I really want is BOTH. We started talking about that this week... Alan is in the beginnings of working out an HVAC business. (He works in HVAC now, and has tried dragging his boss into the 21st century to no avail... so, he's talking about starting his own.) So, were starting to try to plan out a life for us where we can work towards being able to buy a house AND a boat, and spend about half the year in each; 6 months a year traveling, 6 months a year in a house... I think this could work a lot better then having to choose one over the other.
I've actually found another house I like... even though we have at LEAST a year till we're able to start looking again... It's 6 bedrooms, 2 baths all hardwood floors, from about 1910, about 2800 sq. ft. It's lovely and could be amazing. It also has a nice size basement from the look of it, which could be a pretty amazing home studio if we re-did it. Ok... of that subject, as we're still a LOOOOONG way away from that.
In the meanwhile... I'm going to be working towards being able to get more photography gear together. I know the lights I want to get as well as the camera I want to get! I want it all to work for studio work as well as for on location. I want to keep working on my skills, and get to the point where I can support myself and contribute to my household... or at the very least support myself and it's self.
