Still nothing back from NARAS since the receipt for my payment. No idea how long that's going to take, or if I'll just get a membership card in the mail or something.

Thursday night we went to the closing reception for the Hard Wear gallery exhibition. We had seen the cover image in the email invite, and we'd even looked at the web site before going. We liked the whole concept of the set already, but seeing the prints in 36" x 36" on canvas has a tremendously greater impact. Also on display at the gallery were several of the constructed outfits from the photos, which gave the exhibit another cool dimension.
We didn't spend a really long time at the gallery, but it was nice to see it. We chatted for a while with the owner, Joe. He introduced us to a few people there. We didn't meet Max Uber, the photographer, although he was supposed to be there "later." But we were introduced to another photographer named Chris Lee, who was very animated and enthusiastic, fun to talk to. He has a gallery show of his own that we're going to try and make next weekend.
Chris had his camera with him, and before we left, asked if he could take a portrait of Gremlin and I. We were both dressed up a little, in our black-and-boots, and said, sure! He took a couple of us sitting on the stairs, and then a few more in the loft part of the gallery. Turned into sort of a mini-photo shoot, with him asking us to stand back to back, and a couple of other ideas. That ended up being a lot of fun, and he said he knows of the studio and plans to come here to shoot sometime, and that he'll bring us some of the photos he took. I hope we will see him again, both as a new client, and to see the pictures!

Also, Gremlin started teaching me some Photoshop techniques for real photo editing (as opposed to the very rough work I do on product pictures for the store). I'm excited to be learning how to do this, and proud to say I did a good part of the editing on several photos for a commercial client whose image CD we just finished.
I practiced my own photography skills on the grey cat lying in the sun the other day, too. Haven't even checked those out to see how they came out, but I think there might have been a few good shots in there. The cat was funny. She started out holding her positions, almost like she was giving me time to make my settings and shoot. Then after I'd taken some, she started moving a lot more, almost like she was saying, "ok, you're all warmed up and have the controls under your fingers, so keep up with me if you like what you see!" Fun and good practice, whatever the results.

And, I paid my cell bill the other day, and found out that they charge A DOLLAR FIFTY for a call to information. I had made two, so that added a quick three bucks to my bill. Guess what supposed "service" I won't be using again. Absolutely ridiculous. Thank goodness two calls was all it was.

I should end on a positive note... we have a session with Native June again in the morning. They've had several sessions here recently, working on a group of new songs. We'll be broadcasting the session like we often do... session is 10am-3pm, and the link to watch is here, sessioncam.
