Not really sure why I'm updating right now. Probably because I'm feeling down and procrastinating on my cleaning and chores and I don't really have anyone to talk to about anything right now and meanwhile I'm sitting here in front of the computer burning DVD's to clear my completely full drives again.
Humorous note, since shooting yesterday, Mom and I have been picking up .22 brass which apparently I didn't get all shaken out of my clothes yesterday at the range, so it was still falling out as I walked through the house.
My bird is feeling lonely the last few days, begging and begging for pets and attention. I've got him on my shoulder now, and he's happier than in the hall on the perch. Have to give him some good pets. I could gladly sit for a long while and mindlessly pet the bird, but even though I'm procrastinating, I can't sit in peace without feeling guilty for all the other things I should be doing. Not that giving my bird attention isn't something important to do, but I should be getting my other things done too.
I took Mom to the airport earlier, and then came back and got my stuff ready for the bank and post office. I was going to mail a check to Brooke from Grae clothing, who let me take one of their shirts at the last fashion show even though I didn't have cash that night. I realized she sent me her payment info without a last name. I don't remember her last name, so it's tough to write her a check. So I emailed her again asking for her last name. So paying that didn't get done.
Then I remembered that my supply of bank deposit envelopes were in the Camry, and I didn't take them out of the glove box after the accident. I told myself, sure, there will envelopes at the ATM to make my deposit. But there weren't. So the banking isn't done either, and it isn't because of procrastination this time.
I went to the post office and after waiting in line at the automatic postage machine, I did get to mail my two envelopes. The one is some DVD's I burned on a B&P for a woman in Germany. I tried to mail that one twice previously. The first time, I was sending some UPS stuff and asked there, the price they quoted me to mail it just USPS was way high, and when I asked, note, they didn't tell me before I asked, they said they charge extra beyond the postage. I thought that was illegal, actually, to charge more than the postage for sending something USPS. But apparently they get to. So I didn't mail it there. Then after that I went to the post office, but the automatic postage machine was down that day, so I couldn't mail it there either. So now I had procrastinated on going back to the post office for a while, and so hadn't mailed that one till today. It actually cost a little less than HALF of what the UPS store wanted to charge me.
(one DVD burned...)
So meanwhile that's two out of three things that I was going to have taken care of, that I couldn't get done. I've had a mostly lousy week anyway, and that kind of stuff is the stuff that makes me feel like life is an utter waste of time. I know everything's really not like that and I'll feel better again in a few hours or tomorrow or the next day or something, but meanwhile I have work and cleaning and work to look forward to, and I feel like crap. If it wasn't for the fact that I went to bed pretty early last night and slept pretty late today and I don't think my body will let me go back to sleep right now, I think I would get in bed and try to make all the stuff I have to do go away by ignoring it, and try to sleep until Monday morning when I go to the studio again. But, that's not going to work either, so I'm going to sit here and give my bird some attention, get my DVD's burned so I can keep downloading more concerts, do a puzzle, and at least be doing a couple of other legitimate things while procrastinating on my cleaning and work.
It makes me think of the U2 song title "Running to Stand Still," because I feel like I'm just doing the same routine chores over and over again, and then having new day-to-day stuff come up to take up more time and energy and sap my motivation further, and not actually getting anywhere on my list of larger, maybe more meaningful things to work on. No matter how many of these bank, post office, burning DVD-type chores I get done, this isn't really accomplishing anything. It's just sort of constant running to maintain the same position.
Not my most pleasant-outlook kind of day.
