Today was uneventful.
I got a decent night's sleep last night, which was much needed. I still managed to reset my clock time instead of my alarm time when I went to give myself 15 more minutes to sleep. So I woke up a while later, not terribly late but not exactly on time either. Managed to get to work only 20 minutes late, and thankfully it's a day that my mom was opening also, so the store was not sitting unopened during any of business hours. Still, after also messing up my alarm time a couple of days ago, I'm irritated with myself. I'm usually very good about getting up on time, and I rarely oversleep unless I'm just brutally exhausted, which, while tired lately, does not describe my current state at all. I'm going to have to start paying extra attention to setting my alarm at night, and not let myself reset it for later in the morning for the time being.
Today I ended up working the whole day instead of half. My sister just... didn't feel like working I guess. She came in roughly on time, just when I was cleaning up the project I was working on and getting ready to be leaving. Came back and asked if I wanted to stay the rest of the day, and then I'd have less to make up this week for trading days so I can go to the studio. That was ok with me, so I stayed and worked. It just makes me think though, I can not imagine her being willing to stay at zero notice, if I asked the same thing of her. But, I'm doing it for myself, to facilitate the spending of time at the studio that I want, not for her.
In the few minutes she was there, I did run down to Office Depot and buy DVD-R's and cases, since I was completely out. My drives are packed full again, and I have some discs of Boston Legal episodes to burn for a lady in Germany that I said I would do a B&P for. So I'm burning discs now. One nice thing is there were 16x discs on sale this time. Last time there were only 12x discs on sale, and the extra burn-speed is nice.
I pretty much go for what's on sale, brand-wise, but with DVD's I won't buy the super-bargain generic ones. With CD's, the burn time is short enough that it isn't a big deal to re-burn when a disc fails on burn. But with DVD's I don't want to deal with that. So I spend a little more, but I save in wasted time. Seems worth it to me.
So tonight, the agenda is, burn discs so my computer is happier and my downloads that are ticking away now, have room to continue. Then I have to get to work on my web site updates for the family store, which I always procrastinate on. It isn't that much work, but... somehow I don't ever feel like doing it ahead of time. Then it's to work on the OSCommerce site, although I will probably get back to work on that tomorrow, not tonight.
I already asked my mom if she would have time to go to the range with me Monday, so I can shoot, seeing as I missed last week and I want to shoot again. She said she doesn't see why not, so I'm looking forward to that. I'm not sure which gun to rent this time. Still debating whether to continue with the 9mm concept, maybe trying out the Glock that was already rented last time I was there, or try the revolver again, or... go for it with the .45, which sounds fun too. Trying out Dave's went fine... I don't have a problem with the larger caliber, apparently. So I'm curious how I would do with that for accuracy, compared to the 9mm. Yep, guns are fun!
I think the family is going to go to IHOP for dinner here, so I guess disc burning and so forth will continue after that.
Oh yeah, and I got told "aren't you cute!" by a little old lady customer at work today! I was in black track pants and grey warmup jacket, with a powder-blue sweat jacket over that, a huge one, cause it's my sister's that she left there and I wrapped up in it when I got chilly today. And I have my straw cowboy hat on. I'm not sure what part of that, along with the usual green hair and pierced lip, added up to "cute," in old lady terms, but it was funny, in a nice way. Better than getting looked at like a loser, for sure, although I have to say that doesn't happen very often. Most customers that come in and say anything give compliments on my hair and sometimes ask what dye I use and so on. Anyway for some reason it stood out to me to get called "cute," which isn't a word applied to me that often, by this little old lady.
Off to dinner, then come back and get to work... and I'm off work the next two days and then I'm at the studio again, so I'm looking forward to the next few days for sure!
