FIRST RIDE 2003! THE MOTO GUZZI IS OUT!
Last week, I rode my friend Jay's KZ100Police bike around the block, but TODAY I GOT MY OWN BIKE OUT AND WENT RIDING!
There's a ton of saltsand mix on the roads, and my lawn is so deep in mud that I won't even try to put the bike back in the shed yet, but these are details next to the glory of RIDING!
It was too mucky for corner carving, so I went exploring back roads. I spent an hour and a half turning up roads that I'd never heard of before. Since I got a late start, I had the setting sun as my guide. I went weaving between farms and subdivisions, around a lake, across two bridges, got barked at by many dogs, and took in a spectacular chromatic explosion sunset in reds, pinks, oranges and fiery yellow. Wind in my face and no bugs in my teeth. AAAAAAhhhhhhh.
I also attended the SGBoston party this weekend, which was bigtime fun. Minimalism gets credit for making this happen, and happen well. Candlepin bowling provided the kind of silly fun that only happens in rented shoes. The party was to move on to a club, but the drinking-age problem changed the venue to our hotel rooms. Four SG's in attendance, and many other fun characters. Stiles, in his inimitable way, provided the classic American muscle traveling experience-this time a '73 Impala. What a sweet sound and ride.
Tomorrow I ride to work
