I've taken some steps to ease my financial situation over the past few weeks. I found a way to lower my health care premiums, which have been putting a serious drain on my available funds. As a result, I will have to change doctors. Although I'm comfortable with him, I feel that transfering to a different doctor is necessary when weighed against the savings.
I've been looking into moving. I'm comfortable where I am, but felt that I needed to try to lower my rent expense. I haven't been happy with the alternatives out there, so I'm suspending my apartment search. Instead, I've been focused on getting some kind of part time work. I'm anticipating being called in for an interview with a nursing home to work in the bookkeeping department.
I spoke with a friend of mine who runs a poker club I play at twice a week. I'm now dealing there on Wednesdays. Last night was my second time doing that. I've averaged about $170.00 per night. I'm hoping to get more nights of work there, although there's nothing available right now. I'm also not eating out as much and cutting out things like Broadway shows and vacation trips. Overall, things are more under control than they were a month ago.
Things with Mae-Ann couldn't be going any better. We really care about each other and support each other totally. It's obvious to both of us that we need each other. I'm no longer making a comparison between Mae-Ann and my late wife. I suppose I've always known that there could never be another woman that can compare to Annette. It's something that I've come to terms with, which allows me to see Mae-Ann for what she is to me, and not to compare who to someone that no one could measure up to in my eyes.
A number of my friends on SG are going through some difficult times. Some are dealing with serious financial issues while others are dealing with personal and family health issues. I wish them all the best and promise to be there for any and all of them in any way I can, as I've always tried to be up to now. Many of you have been there for me when I've needed you. For that, I'm very grateful.
As always, I wish all of you what I wish for myself, namely, peace of mind.
