saw THE MUFFS in Oakland last night. Just AMAZING1 I've seen this band many times, but it's almost been 6-7 years since I've seen 'em live at the Bottom Of The Hill for the "Really Really Happy" tour.
My friend Mel got me into THE MUFFS in the 90's when their debut album came out when GREEN DAY was conquering the alternative airwaves. Pop punk was blowing up on Mtv, mainstream alternative radio and the charts. Pretty much my soundtrack at the time was JAWBREAKER, ALL and THE MUFFS (along with couple more.) Always dug Kim Shattuck's catchy riffs and catchy melodies.
I think THE MUFFS never go their due, but lucky for me, they're still around and still putting out good tunes and playing gigs. Can't wait, they're supposed to return to San Francisco and play with another fave of mine, THE FASTBACKS from Seattle.
I guess the 90's never went away
