If I could make one kitchen recommendation that I've found very useful, it's: roast some hazlenuts, peel them (by rubbing them between two towels), and grind them in a food processor, blender, coffee grinder, or mortar, and put them in the refrigerator. It is wonderful on salads, pasta, rice, and in cakes and breads.
