MY FACE!! IT BURNS..... OHHH IT BURNS SOOOOOO *Insert melodramatic screaming and agonized writhing here* I got myself burned pretty good from the shoulders up at Warped Tour yesterday. Got myself a baby blister on the tip of my nose too for my efforts. Gotta say its damned annoying to wake up every half hour through the night cause you feel your blister goo dripping off and having to wipe it off with a kleenix. The show was pretty good though. In general I'd say there was a lot more of the angry punk vibe there this year than in years past, especially for the main stage. Not necessarily the worst thing in the world, but when its 85 degrees and you're standing over pavement in full sun you dont exactly want to go dive into the pit every other song. I felt like kinda a wussy since I only went in like 5 circle pits all day, from only 3 bands, but I'm getting old an dehydrated from all that sun. I was kinda annoyed that Less than Jake played so early today, I didnt arrive till they were half way through their first set like an hour after the gates opened. They should be further up the food chain than that, not that warped tour really puts much ryhme or reason behind their line up order. Helmet sounded really good (although I was still surprised when I realized it was helmet playing at a punk show), the Living End was great as always. That was like the 4th time I've seen them live. NOFX was better than I remembered. I didnt really remember being super impressed with them, but they had a fun live show and that always helps too. I found a new band that sounded great at the B stage, Biology. Unfortunatley I'm too poor to afford buying music since in the last 3 months I've paid 8k to get my windows replaced, 3k of which is still sitting on my credit card, paid 380 for plane tickets to visit my sister in new york this september, about 400 to get my floors sanded and refinished, 25 for a local mma fight that's going on in a few weeks, about 75 for warped tour, after surcharges, gas and food, and gonna be another 90 or so for the Tool show I'm gonna be going to next month. I'm pretty much tapped out cash wise. Too bad they're pay only off Napster or I'd give em a try.
Since I'm updating my SG journal I figure I should throw in my dream fragment I had. I was on a tropical island on the beach with a group of maybe 5 other people and we were trying to figure out a way to get off the island. There was actually a small 2 person sized sail boat hanging out about 40 feet into the water, but I was a crappy swimmer and didnt know jack about sailing so instead I decided to go deeper into the island and check out their main building there. I started to walk up a fairly steep stair case made out of sand, and once I reached the top of the stairs there was kinda a ghetto booby trap that made the staircase's sand just collapse in, but only for the space of like 3 steps, like it was sliced cleanly by a knife to just leave a 3 step gap just big enough to give a rough time to try to go up or get back down again. I had the bright idea to kick the current step's sand down and make a little pile of sand that might cushion a jump and make a mound big enough for me to climb up the rest of the way and rejoin everyone else. The pile I made was decidedly too small though and now I had a bigger gap I needed to jump over to get back out, so I gave up on the beach people and started back into the building. Once I was inside it was like a large victorian house with several glass chandeliers and a lot of glass cases along the walls. A couple large dark wood tables were in the center of the room as well giving the entire place an extremely cramped feeling. There were about 4 or 5 other people there as well, I remember the women wearing period dresses with the huge skirts and corsets and I know a couple of them present were men but I didnt note anything of them I can remember. Then a large rumbling shook the entire building and sent all the chandeliers swinging and the glass cases shook and shuddered for several seconds. The rest of the group was rattled and started talking about the earthquake, but I knew it was something else more dangerous that had shaken the house and I needed to find a way to get out. I tried to tell them we needed to leave and wanted to tell them it wasnt an earthquake, but I had no way to put my thoughts into words. A few quick words were exchanged with the others but they were settling down again and content to stay so I gave up and again started to try to find a way out and then it unraveled on me.
