This is the mood I'm in tonight: Capitalism can suck it. There's got to be another way.
Though I'm anything but Catholic, I was impressed with Pope Francis's direct message about capitalism and its dehumanization of the world. I've been moved lately not by the writings of Karl Marx, but by that other Karl—Karl Polyani. It's not no markets, but markets in service to human and natural concerns. If you haven't checked it out, I recommend you do.
I'm just a little angry this evening about needing to keep a job which is actively harmful to society, and which involves a lot of dishonesty by a lot of people, but being so trapped in the system that I can't instantaneously quit. In fact, I imagine it'll be some months before I can extricate myself. How many of us spend a good portion of our lives doing things we know aren't good, much less satisfying, because we're trapped in such a system? Too many of us, more than 80%, I'd guess.
There's got to be another way.

"There's got to be another way". You're certainly right.

@moxko, let me know if you figure out a way to convince at least a billion or so other people that's true.
