I got offered a position in Auckland which I have accepted. It is much more than I expected considering that the ground conditions and construction requirements are so different and I will have to spend months learning them. That's an advantage though since I've been expert enough in local conditions that I occasionally got mouthy at the project managers when I thought they were in the wrong. Now I can adjust and instead of getting "mouthy" I can do it the right way by asking many questions that will better define the issue for me. I'll also be doing a lot of technical development work rather than just civil design, which I'm quite happy to do.
