My god, I didn't know that I needed synthwave in my life, but I needed it. It started with a duo I kept seeing on tiktok, who I took notice of because they are a Mexican American group, and hey, we gotta support our own. Glass Spells is the name of that one. I enjoyed it, and added them to my YouTube music library. Then the other day YouTube decided that I should listen to a British group called Gunship, specifically their new album, Unicorn. I have not been able to listen to anything else for a couple days now. I can't explain it, it just scratches an itch I didn't know was there. Did I mention Tim Cappello plays sax in a lot of the songs? For those unaware, he's the sax player in Lost Boys, that wonderful piece of 80's vampire fun.
And weirdly enough, I actually feel inspiration creeping in as I listen. Sometimes music can have that effect, but it's rare for me. If not for the fact that it's 7:22 in the morning and I've yet to sleep, I'd be tempted to open up the computer and write a bit. Anyone got any bands similar? I'm fully prepared to go down this rabbit hole.
