Long story short, my mother was trying to guilt me into something I didn't want to do, telling me how 'disappointed and upset' she was with me. I finally told her that I'm allowed to have boundaries too, that my feelings are just as valid as hers, and that I'm tried of pretending they aren't. Not the glorious telling someone off I always imagined, but I think it was more effective. And boy did that feel good to finally say. Haven't heard back from her since then. It's been an hour. I'm counting that as a win.
