Okay, so this last year my parents have split up and my mom filed for divorce. In all honesty, it seems like she's become a little mentally unbalanced. But, that's not the point, it's just a little back story.

Lately, my dad has started using online dating. Tonight he had a date, his third since he started, and usually he comes home disappointed. But this time, I just got a text from him saying, "She's cute." with a smiley face. This man doesn't text much, he's not all that big on technology, so this is kind of funny.

I'm happy for the old man, he took the separation and impending divorce pretty hard, so it's nice to see him moving on. Especially since he's spent the last year trying to get over my mom.

Damn, I just realized that my dad is out on a date on a Saturday night, and I'm sitting at home watching my brother's kids...

It's so strange to have your parents divorce an an adult.  My mom's divorce is nearly final from my stepdad, and it's been heinous.  I'm glad your dad is doing well!  I'm sorry to hear about your mom though... I know I don't have to worry about my mom dating.  This was her second marriage, and my stepdad turned out to be a sex addict who denies any wrongdoing besides other unsavory tendencies.  She has zero interest in cultivating a relationship with anyone besides me.  How is your mom doing?

Unfortunately, I don't really know. She's pushed the whole family away. So, she doesn't talk to us anymore. I think she's doing okay, but it's hard to say at this point. She's staying with her father now. Yeah, it's definitely weird dealing with this as an adult. But at least it's not as devastating as it could have been when we were kids, though my sister is still taking it that hard. Sounds like your mom had it rough. It's good she has you there for her.
