I'm really behind in school. I need to get caught up. I've been sleeping *a lot* lately, too. And I haven't been going running or working out at all. A lot of things seem to be bothering me more than they normally would. Maybe I have seasonal depression, but I've never gotten it before.
I went to declare my major today ^_^ It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. There wasn't a ton of paper work; all I had to do was go in and talk to the head of the linguistics department for fifteen minutes. My major is also super easy. Well, I think it is. It's only thirty credits.
I'm trying to decide where I want to go to graduate school. I know I want to go to library school, but I don't know if I want to leave the country or not.
Stay Here
-Cheaper
-Easier, since I know a bunch of people who've gone through the same program
-The program here is really easy, 49 credits over two years plus a one-credit practicum, which I would do at my job
-No worrying about visas, moving, etc.
-Stuck here for five more years
-Too comfortable
-can keep my job
Abroad
-more expensive
-unfamiliar place, different type of school, adjusting to a new country, etc.
-get to travel
-have to find a new job
-getting a visa, finding somewhere where I can take Pansy, etc.
-not stuck here for five more years
-have to move AGAIN
------------------------
I really don't want to stay here for five more years though, even if moving and adjusting would be difficult, because if I do the M.A. program here, when I graduate, it'll be like, "Why don't I just get a librarian job at work, since I already work there?" and I'll never get out of here and everything will just get too comfortable, and I don't want that to happen. Anyway, right now I'm just in the initial stages of checking out other library schools and also the country's bsl* laws (I HATE bsl laws; they are horrible, stupid laws and should all be struck from the books).
*bsl = breed specific legisalation, i.e. laws banning or severally limiting ownership of specific breeds of dogs because they are "dangerous". Individual dogs can be dangerous, not entire breeds. I could go on and on about this and why those laws are stupid, but that'll make this entry super long, so I'll just put some links for you to look at. If anyone actually cares why I personally think bsl laws are stupid, you can ask me.

But I can also understand why you'd want to stay. I'll take a look at those websites, I think BSL laws are a crock of shit; I'll also notify the Wisconsin Libertarians about this, I'm sure they'll have something to say about the matter as well.
