I'm posting this here since I'm sure my friends are sick of reading about my apartment-finding problems.
Ok, My friend Liv turned 18 this year, and she's going to be going to college in town at MATC. Her parents are really strict so she wants to move out right away. Her parents said they'd pay her rent, and although she had never had a job, she has done extensive volunteering so it's not like it's going to be super hard for her to find a job.
The problem is this: I have a pit bull, and I'm planning on getting a second dog, probably a pit bull. There are very few apartments in my city that allow dogs, and most of them only allow small dogs or have breed restrictions. My landlord right now does allow dogs and has no restrictions and doesn't even charge extra for animals, but he doesn't have any other apartments available for fall right now. So I've spent the last week calling and being rejected by numerous places. I finally found two places that allow dogs, but one of them is like "well, we only offered to allow your dog as an incentive and we don't want two dogs there" but it's a really nice apartment and it's a two-bedroom and there's a yard and it's in an old house, which I love; and the other one is a three-bedroom, and this guy has a limit of two dogs and charges $10/month/dog but has no breed or size limits (the other place charges $20/month/dog) but other than that I know nothing about the place and I don't even know if it's still available.
The guy who was going to live with Liv and me before just imed me and said that he'd like to go see the three-bedroom, but I've been talking to this girl online about living with me and Liv, too, thinking that Cody was not going to live with us. I don't know anything about this girl, but I know that Cody is responsible and won't be a horrible roommate. So now I've told this girl to come meet Liv and I sometime, and I'll feel really bad if I have to tell her "no" but I'd rather live with Cody since I know he's going to pay his rent, not be an asshole, etc.
Also, I still have to go see both these apartments, and places are getting rented really fast, so if I wait at all, the places will probably be gone, and then Liv won't have anywhere to Liv and I'll just stay where I am (fine for me, not good for Liv).
Also, the thing is, I don't need two dogs. I just want to get one so that Pansy will have a friend, and also having two pit bulls makes it extremely difficult to find an apartment, even though I do know several places that are pet-friendly. And besides that it's expensive and I don't know if I'm going to get the really high paying job that I have to take a test for still, and half the reason I'm moving is to save money so I can support myself and not have my dad give me money since he's on a fixed income, can't work, and is in debt a lot.
I'm still going to see the place tomorrow even though I know I'm going to say no if they say I can't have two dogs, and there's almost a 100% chance that they'll say no, but then, I'll have to go see that three-bedroom this week and probably get the lease signed and done with this week, and that's a lot of work although it can be done. I just don't know. This is all very stressful. I'm just hoping that the three-bedroom is nice enough. And if I can figure out this week where I'm living next year, it'll make everything so much less stressful.
