My fathre is finally back at his home - only 146 days since he'd left for a "routine procedure" *sighs*
he's turned around SO amazingly, since in the first months the odds were miniscule that he'd survive, let alone doing this well !
He remembers very little - probably a good thing? - doesn't remember my visiting at all for a week in the beginning :(
but he's VERY aware of how close he was and ( thankfully ) isn't angry with our life-changing decisions for him...
on the contrary, he appears/says he's glad we made the choices we did, as it led here - to him finally home again
I've always been proud of my fathre - even if we didn't get along for most of my life *shrugs*
and this is another source of pride... accompanied, of course, by our innate & shared stubbornness *laughs*
he - as I - have survived many close-to-death things in our lives... and gotten through them mostly intact
he's obviously been through a few more than I have in his longer lifespan
...but it's good to know, I suppose, that I inherited that part of him, at least :)

In a mere 24days, I'll begin my 2-week vacation ( ok, ok, so it's technically only 12 days, but close enough, neh? )
so... the original GLO [Great Lakes-Ontario] Roadtrip is stalled & even if things change in the next 3+ weeks, unlikely to go as planned...
nonetheless I have my rental paid for & coming up quick, so I think the 'GLO' can hold off a year :)
instead I'm going to point myself more west-southwestward ( no, I don't have a catchy title for this Roadtrip change yet ;) )
state & national parks are starting to open up - hopefully moreso in the next few weeks
and since I avoid large cities on Roadtrips anyways, that's no issue, either *laughs*
aye, I'll be smart ( I always am aware on Roadtrips to places I haven't been - which is quite a few )
I'll avoid any states/areas still under "stay home" ordinances or that hold quarantine orders for interstate travelers
my fathre mentioned it'd been decades since he'd been to southwest South Dakota...
so am pondering the first couple days we meet somewhere ( like Wall ? ) & enjoy the Badlands, etc before they head back & I move onto the rest of my Roadtrip
...it'd be intriguing - and a nice break for him to get out, since he'd been cooped up for so very, very long :(
( no, I couldn't take him with me - I do no pre-planning, sleep most nights in the rental, & just tend to do things on a whim on Roadtrips...
that wouldn't be good for him - nor healthy, in his still-recovering state - hells, I don't think ANYone could handle my Roadtrip "Style" *laughs )
ANYways - it's just an idea at this juncture... but coming up so, SO quickly !!
...As usual, any ideas/recommendations, let me know - I didn't get past SD last time I was in that area, but definitely will this time !!
who knows, maybe I'll hit Yellowstone or Grand Canyon or Oatman, AZ/Route 66 or [place west/southwest location here] ...
assuming they're at least semi-open :)

5/3 : it appears the same people who refuse to believe the sun is a star, the earth revolves around the sun, & the earth is round are "absolutely certain" the virus is a worldwide conspiracy - there's absolutely no logic behind their (dis)beliefs, but, hey... good for them, I guess ?
(5/3) : the technical issues I've been having since Fri post-work are... intriguing - since yesterday afternoon the internet's been fairly steady... though anything I have connected to it thinks it's been connecting to a different service every few hours *smirks*
this afternoon a tech is scheduled, but just received a message that the tech may not be entering the home ( wonder how else they'll check things? *shrugs* ) - ANYways... at least I'm more up than down now, but it's still acting weirdly :)
5/3 II : tech was great - issue had to do with the cables/old cables... with a LOT of splices that it looked like either other techs or (shitty) neighbours had been playing around with - on Weds they're replacing the entire cable for my line w/o splices, one cable from start to finish :)
5/15 : Am I wrong to be semi-amused at a couple moving out ... who hired the same moving company to move them to separate places ( one truck front of building, one parking lot )
