admittedly it's been a pretty lazy one - only a few of the 10 full days did I get any further than a mile from the apartment *laughs*
but it was relaxing and - I suppose - needed to clear the mind from some things that were starting to 'come back' ( mentally & physically )
had some 'fun' storms in the area yesterday - including some tornadoes, though I didn't see a thing *shrugs*
hilariously enough my deck was still wet this morning from yesterday ( bad weather had fully stopped around 1a )
been listening to & heartily enjoying the CDs I picked up - mostly on spec & recommendation :)
not something I normally do - but I knew the bands & loved their other stuff, most, if not all, of which I already owned :D
though I keep getting mentally distracted in some way/shape/form *shrugs* - so, nothing new ;)
as previously posted, trying to come up with affordable out-of-country (I live in the US) places to go next year...
** NOTE : I only travel between April & August ( inclusive ), so that's also a potential factor **
in addition to affordable, there'd have to be someone that speaks english semi-regularly
also, since I'm a picky SOB & allergic to many foods, that could be a potential issue as well ( not eating for a week/couple weeks and/or getting ill/vomiting from food does NOT equate to good things )
also ( and a BIG also! ), there'd have to be enough to see & keep me mentally & physically occupied during my stay
I love learning history & culture - and will absolutely end up wandering & exploring :D :)
( when I go places, I just don't wanna sit around for a week with my mind wandering - that's dangerous for everyone ! )
this would mean *IF* I do some sort of tour, there'd have to be enough "me" time to just up-and-wander and just "do" things *laughs*
so far I've gotten only two suggestions from the last posting :
Isla Mujeres - a mexican island in Caribbean Sea just off the Yucatan ... mexico has never excited me - at all - and would there be enough to keep me mentally & physically occupied ( since water-based ANYthing is out, I can't swim )... let alone food-wise ?
&
Hong Kong - don't know why I didn't think of that before... post-british rule most everthing would include english, most would speak it, & it's history is ( from what I read ) fairly astounding & intriguing :)
gimme more more MORE !!
seriously, the more ideas the more - by the time it's december/january & I know the time accrued, I can plan next year's calendar
...and will hopefully have something saved up to prep & plan, too ;) :)
now that I have a passport, it'd make sense to use it at some point...
though, I admit, not leaving the country ( for farther than a couple miles, sorry canada! ) until I'm post-45 is kinda saddening yet funny in a weird way ;) :D
so... suggestions suggestions suggestions !! :D
and, for now, my Lovelies & Gentlefolk - keep Living & Enjoying Life !!
twittage ::
7/25 : 1st day of the 2nd half of my 'home-cation' ( ok, that name for it sounds awful, too )... ANYways - UPS apparently 'fixed' their issue, though it shows it showed up in MG twice on their site *smirks*, but they'll be delivering today... sometime today... :)
7/25 II : being halfway through my 2nd/last vaca of the year has me semi-thinking of where I want to go next year - out of the country would be VERY cool, *IF* I it's affordable & likely someone would speak english & could handle the food - ANY recommends or suggestions... ?!? Please !
7/27 : local weirdness/craziness - Wendy's has been a 'broiled cajun seafoid' place for few weeks now... & sent their employees home this AM ( had 5 customers/day past week! ) - BK having slight issues, new mgt not given lobby keys so manually letting people in, new employees, too :(
7/27 II : yes, thankfully Target is carrying more jeans than just their uber-shitty designer brand again so, yes, I WAS able to find jeans to replace the open-crotch ones ... had to call the ex-wife to understand some of the 'new' jean terms, but ended up successful in the end *laughs*...
...VERY sadly, after finding good jeans in my size ( and taking them all *laughs* ) an employee tried to 'upsell' me to shitbrand with "they're only [x]$ more" - when I replied "will they last longer than the 2 months the last ones did?" they replied "they ARE designer jeans..."
7/28 : 20-25mins ago weather service had given "recommendation for people in [my] county to stay away from windows" since, apparently, this multi-storm system is producing "sudden, fast rotations" - which, I'm sure, is leading to people clustering around their windows watching the sky
7/29 : Last (full) day of vaca (for the year)... I even slept in 'til almost 6:30 :) ...hilariously/weirdly, my deck is still wet from yesterday's storms - and I suppose I should put away all the laundry I did the past few days... well, I could, it's not like I sit in that chair often
