Epic Dream - Exploding Roman Gnomes
So I had this dream last night that was so epic, I thought I would share it with you all. It is set at the height of Roman civilization and I am the daughter of a wealthy senator (my actual Dad) who was taking me with him to visit an old friend of his who lived a short walk away. This friend was also a soldier who fought alongside my Dad and they shared many adventures together and they liked to visit once a week to relive old days and get drunk off red wine and eat cheese and other finger foods. On such a day he brought me along since this man (I was never told what his name was, I suppose it was assumed I would know) would allow me to make use of his grand library which was an honor since most men didnt really take notice of friends daughters unless they wanted to marry them.
So were walking along this stone path and its bloody hot outside and the air smells like baked bread. I am wearing some sort of curtain with sandals and my hair is curly and piled high on my head. I remember thinking in the dream that I wanted to hurry and get to the villa so that we could be within cool stone walls and not cook under the noonday sun, but my Dad liked to take his sweet ass time and greet people as we went along. Politics. Anyways, once there we were let inside and it was mercifully cool in there so I relaxed a little and the man (lets call him Cornelius to make it easier), greeted us warmly and led us around showing off his newly painted frescoes. Apparently some of the images were scandalous because my Dad remarked on them and Cornelius laughed it off saying who would dare confront HIM on it, so I assume he was a powerful man as well.
When we arrived at the library, there was a table set up with food and drink and him and my Dad sat down to chat and Cornelius pulled out this book which was to be the topic of conversation. It was a controversial love story between two Romans and although he mentioned the names of the two characters, I cant for the life of me remember them but I remember that they were bizarre. He was telling us that it was a great romance and that I would enjoy it although there were gaps in the story that needed to be filled in by this additional book that came with it. Unfortunately it was written in Latin so I couldnt read it (which is funny since we should probably be speaking Latin right now but dreams arent supposed to make sense). So he suggested that I come every other evening and he would read it to me and translate and then we could discuss it together. I was thrilled and was quite happy after that.
Suddenly I got this foreboding feeling and the air became electrified with tension and the light dimmed. All three of us went to a nearby window to check out what was going on. Apparently the slaves were revolting, but they werent people, they were little gnomes no bigger than my thumb who did all the work. Apparently they werent allowed to pool together in big groups because then they would get all excited and blow up and cause damage. This was such a time. Some gnome leader wanted to free his people from Roman slavery and so he got all the gnomes to gather in one place and then dig a tunnel underneath Rome so that they could blow it up from the ground up. And so they did. I watched in awe as Rome started burning and exploding due to over-excited gnomes and it was all quite ridiculous. The dream proceeded to get more confusing after that so I wont go into details but the gist is that I started picking my way through the debris, trying to escape into the country while being chased by explosive little people. It was epic. Why I dream such things, I will never know.

wolfmother:
Not a clue. Most likely some sort of herbal tea and chocolate.
