I am starting to get stupid with work again--I just worked for almost twenty-four hours.
I am almost too tired to get into details, but I think I am going to give it a shot.
I work at 7-11. As an assistant manager. Right now I am splitting shifts between two stores. One store just got a new manager a couple of weeks ago, and in the other the manager was fired/quit last week and has there former manager coming back from disability on Monday.
Our story starts out with me working the night shift at the former store (Baseline) on the weekend. I work ten hour shifts per norm (supposedly four a week). Working two of those as night shifts sucks. You just start getting a rhythm on the second shift, and then your body is shocked by going back onto days. I am just getting too old for that shit--I need some stability.
I got off work at 8AM on Sunday. I was suppose to go for a bike ride with a buddy that morning, but by the time he phone at 10 AM I was too tired, and begged off. "Tomorrow morning for sure," I declared. I crashed for about four hours, waking up a little after 3PM. While waiting for another friend (yes, I actually have more that one friend, though I have tended to ignore them lately) to phone up about going to see a movie, I get called into work, and end up in the second store (Sioux Road) from 6PM-11PM. By the time I get to bed about 1AM, I am seriously considering bailing on the bike ride, but nevertheless I set my alarm for 5:20AM and drift off to sleep,
It is hard to express the totally apathy upon awakening from a sleep which is too meagre. I kinda feel the same way right now.
I meet up with Dennis a little after 6AM Monday morning, and we do a short one hour bike ride. I head back into the Sioux Road store for a couple of hours after that, and do up the deposit and daily paperwork. Once back home it is time to sleep for an hour and a half before my shift at 1PM at the other store (Baseline). I am suppose to work until 11PM, and then 9AM-5PM Tuesday at Sioux Road. But I end up leaving at 9:30PM so I can rest for an hour before heading in to work the night shift at Sioux road.
What a disaster. You can tell that the manager did not give a flying fuck. Paperwork not filed, no shortage control, staff working when they want, clutter everywhere...
This diatribe is becoming tiresome and pedantic--time to cut it short. Worked until 10:30AM, just woke up an hour ago, I need a vacation.
