Sad post.
My father, a decorated police officer from DC was hit by a drunk driver in the early 80's, crushing his leg and requiring emergency surgery. That surgery required a blood transfusion exposing my father to Hep C. He's been going downhill for some time now and is in the final end stages of liver disease.
I went to his house today and although I hope for the best---a possible liver transplant---I believe we're near the end.
I'm the only girl. A daddy's girl, raised in the police department, taken to day care in a cruiser. Went a bit rogue and own a tattoo studio today...something I'm certain my parents never imagined when they sent me to private boarding school. But here I am, nonetheless, and very close to them both.
Today, I saw my dad die a little more.
When is it safe to run away? I'm thinking New Orleans when it's all over.
