This one deserves a post here; me interviewing HR from BAD BRAINS.
The PORTUGUESE language version is here.
The ENGLISH one:
1. HR, tell us about your solo album. Do you think any of your songs
would fit in a Bad Brains album?
It is truly a masterpiece, every song gets an A+ and that is very
rare these days. You have to hear it. We play reggae a dub love
groove music, and The Brains are a top ranking band as well.
2. Last April, Bad Brains came down to Brazil for some gigs with
Israel Joseph. Why did you not come for these shows? What is
happening in the Bad Brains line up?
I had a departure from them briefly, but it's on like popcorn now.
3. What do you think about the "American Hardcore" DVD? Do you
think it is a good view of the 1980's hardcore movement?
Yea mon jamerican artcore is a good documentation of the period.
4. Are you still following the Rasta movement? How do you see it
currently? How does it make you change the way you live?
Yes, Rasta forever. Praise Jah Rastafari. When you worship the Lord
Almighty, his blessings will be given to thee, but you must read your
Bible and teach the children to love.
5. Emotional hardcore and commercial reggae are two of the most
popular music styles in Brazil. What do you think about both of
these styles of music? Do you think that hardcore music is only out
there for protesting, and that reggae and rasta is there to be
revolutionary?
Thanks to bands like Fishbone and Kingx for playing good artcore
music. Music is to be listened to and studied. Study Bob Marley,
Aswad, these are manuscripts that transcend political messages and
are spiritual in nature.
6. Do you plan on touring internationally for the new solo album?
Any plans to come to Brazil?
We will tour internationally and we plan on coming to Brazil as soon
as possible.
7. Do you have a message for your Brazilian fans?
I want to tell all the students to read their Bible and not to fight
with each other. Everyone needs to love one another and then we will
find this world a much better place.
