@lyxzen @rambo @missy As a lover of history, I'd have to say that my hero is our 16th President Abraham Lincoln.
He was President during one of the most trying and tragic periods in our history. Our Civil War, many times actually pitting brother against brother, and father against son. He was born in a log cabin, was largely self-educated and rose from his humble beginnings to become a lawyer, a representative and a president.
He suffered from depression for most of his life, enduring tragedies and failures while still maintaining his dry sense of humor. He had several dreams prophessizing his own assassination.
His most famous speech, The Gettysburg Address, was written on a napkin while on the train to the battlefield. Is there anyone that fails to recognize the first line of the speech?
His memorials are world famous.
Not to mention being on the penny and the $5 bill. He's even recently put out a meme.
