Something about hotel showers has always been so nice and relaxing... I LOVE hotel showers....
Talked to a couple of my guys in New Orleans last night. I'm proud of them. It's felt very unnatural to not be with them - I trained them, worked with them, and fought with them. We love each other enough to know why I'm not there - I had to leave in April to do this thing I do these days, but I still feel that I am one of them. I did their loadout with them when they got this mission and some of my younger guys were still addressing me by my rank or callsign - aww
Thought I'd repost this just one more time, just in case anyone else was wondering about donations:
The Red Crosswill readily take donations for both disasters (South Asian Tsunami & Gulf Coast Hurricane) - I worked around the Red Cross in New York at Ground Zero and was amazed at the broad range of resources they were able to commit, even very early on in the tragedy. One great feature of the organization is its internationally recognized legitimacy, which does much for its ability to forecast, budget, and plan contingencies. In this way, your money goes very, very far by way of the Organizations directed actions.
Any way you contribute will do more than you can really imagine, but the Red Cross will not betray your sincerity. I also try to support medical rescue groups such as Northwest Medical Teams, as this is the type of volunteering I do, and generally receives far less funding as larger organizations.
In any case, hope you're all very well and don't do anything I would...
