Thanksgiving break has arrived and I am in full-on relax mode. I'll be in Portland this week visiting my mom, brother and sister, and then back to research and language training.
I think I'll try to host the family's Christmas here at my house this year. Of course I'm 400 miles from anywhere, so I'll have to talk everyone else into it.
This will be the first holiday season without Dad - he died four weeks ago tomorrow, so I'm trying to take extra care of my mom right now. She's a trooper, but far too good of a person to have to deal with every disaster she has.
She and I will be working together in South America this summer on a humanitarian medical mission - that will be wonderful, as she has always wanted to do that and I haven't done it since Iraq. It's about time to do something helpful again.
Happy Thanksgiving - I hope you all are able to spend the holidays with those who love you.

I requested friendship, I hope you do not mind. I found your journal intriguing.
