Hi Blog,
I know it has been some time since I last wrote and I said I was going to write about my recent health stuffI had a life changing experience when I went to the doctor and found out my prostate PSA number was better and I probably did NOT have cancer. I could always develop prostate cancer as I am at risk with a family history of cancer and other age and health issues, but for now I am okay. This, combined with a horrendous year in one of my schoolsthe kids behavior across the board has been awful and for the first time in all the time Ive worked with kids (over 20 years) Ive hated going to school. I made the difficult decision to leave that school and look for another art-teaching position elsewhere. I had an interview yesterday and hope like hell I get the job as I would be the schools first official art teacher and I know in my heart I could do a wonderful job for the kids.
Anyway, these things have made me re-evaluate what I do as an artist and why I do it. To that end, Ive decided that I probably wont be on SG much anymore and as the weather gets better and Im able to get outside and paint (as well as work from a live model in a local drawing club), I wont be online much through the spring and summer either. Dont get me wrong, I love all the people Ive met here and enjoy doing the portrait drawings, but my creative spirit is pulling me away to a different place. I know Ive promised pieces of art to a few people and will try to fulfill those obligations as I can, but it will be awhile, I sincerely apologize.
Ive faced death several times throughout my time on this earth and Ive learned that one grows from each experience in different wayswe learn and change. Ive learned from SG that it doesnt matter what one looks like the body mods and ink are just forms of self-expression, much like what I do with a pencil and brush here at SG there is a place for EVERYONE to take part in lifes riches and beauty. I see talent and beauty in everyone hereand so much potential, too!
So, I bid you Auf Wiedersehen und viel gluck (much luck) I leave you for now with this acrylic painting (that Ive been trying to finish for months!) of Amarena. I love this shot (for obvious reasons!) and hope she enjoys the painting.
Take care, stay safe and have fun!
Love and Sweet Blessings!
