Hi Blog
I just want to wish everyone here and especially my dear friends on SG a very Happy Christmas and many beautiful Blessings for the New Year! May the Goddess keep you close to Her heart and keep you safe and warm in Her love and kindnessin Perfect Love and Perfect Trust. Kind of a mix of the Christian and the Pagan, but Im a mutt anyway so it fits. I just want everyone to be safe and happy and enjoy all the good stuff life has to offer. You, all of you, have shown me unending support and caring as I go through and have gone through some difficult times and emotional phases. There are several people here who have gone beyond what I might call a casual online friendship and really shown me what it means to care for and love another human beingyou KNOW who you are, or better at this point! I dont mean to keep belaboring the point, but without some of these lovely folkswell, lets just say my pencil would draw no more portraits and my paintbrush would gather dust. I do thank them (which seems trite and nowhere near enough for what theyve done for me), I figure they know by now how I feel. Yet, Ill probably keep telling them and thanking them because thats the way I was brought upplus I feel I owe them as many thanks and as much love as I can give in return for what they have given methere I go againon and on and on LOL!!! Okay, to the point
So, as I journey ahead into the new year and whatever fun and excitement that it may bring, I want to start my Blog Journal of Reflection with a note about why I am writing what I am about to relate here. For those who dont know, I am entering into my last semester of my degree program for a masters and license in school counseling. I will graduate in May 2011 and hope to work as a school counselor in addition to teaching art. I also want to continue my professional development as an art therapist, but thats a bit down the road as I need more course work and board certification. Part of my degree is 50 hours of self-reflection on personal therapy work that I have done over the last four years (and before that as well). Thats why I am starting this Blog now and adding the next few entries as the journal for my degree. I guess I should have a title, but havent thought of a good one yet so will add that later.
My reason for going into counseling was to be able to help school children (mainly in elementary school) find their voice through the use of art. I started drawing and painting when I was eight years old. It wasnt until I was in high school (and found art as the support I needed for the bullying incidents I went through) that art really changed my life. I want to give back to visual art through the children I work with as an art teacher and art therapist what it gave mesupport and a voice actually, love in a way.
So thats the beginningmore to follow as I record my personal experiences, therapy work, and how (here I go again) my special friends here have helped me so much.
Thanks Blog and to all, a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
