Well the hammer finally dropped, and it seems that I've one too many suspensions on my otherwise fabulous driving record for the Post Office to hire me. I was really hoping that this would be my comeuppance. $17.47 an hour to start, plus bennys, and retirement. I was so almost there, I passed all their tests, drug ones and others. I had an excellent interview, the HR lady thought I was charming and complemented my attitude and smile. I was going to bed every night not drunk, instead happy and thoughtful about the future...But alas, it was not my time for gainful employment after all. I made sure that they would keep my name on there register for the next rounds. After five years of waiting, I guess a couple more couldn't hurt. Hopefully I can keep my shit straight long enough for it to count.
But all the guys at my current job are happy in a sense, they didn't want to see me leave even for something that grand. So back to driving a forklift I go, in a fun but dead end job. I rate this with buying a lottery ticket. For one dollar you can day dream about all that money and bullshit. But in the end the likely-hood of winning is small. That is usually how things go for me. I had just really thought this was the one time it'd be different.
Now I don't have the real chance of pulling out my automatic weapons and legitimately go postal...
