i realized how few dvd's i've rented this summer.... must be the GTA4 additction throughout the month of july...
watched Tarnation on a long-ago suggestion from a co-worker (about a kid growing up in screwy situation with a mother who's brain is fried/damaged from shock and mental illness; documentary, with all sorts of photos and home movies throughout his life)... pretty powerful and sad. Same with the Savages (Phillip Seymore Hoffman is excellent in everything); two siblings dealing with end of life decisions for their estranged father. make me continue to think about mom & grandparent's' increasing age.... what capacity i'll be there, all that jazz...
and yep, Randy Pausch passed last week. showing his lecture was the one "departure" from academic-y stuff I spent class time on last year. although I think perhaps 2 studnets "got it", it was a choice I'm happy with and can take inspiration from.
Boris/Torche/Lair of the Minitaur last night was L O U D. seems like there's been fewer shows this summer that I've been interested in attending as well....
my feet keep telling me that I'm old.... they hurt from doing nothing.
