Yay!!! i went to the Stumptown comic fest today and bought The Art of Matt Wagner's Grendel and got it signed by him. i also listened to his 'panel' discussion/chat thing. he's a funny, down-to-earth guy. i also picked up a few zines and a cool little clay figure of Atrox, would've bought a print from Camilla Derrico if i would've brought more money, and i got a zine and stickers from Dragon Green, and a print from James Taylor. Again, the socially inept piece of me had the chance to chat with Mrs. Green when we ended up at the same Quiznos for lunch, alas, i froze up. All in all, a pretty cool opportunity to see bunch of talented folks' work.
Ironically, after I wrote this reply here regarding how i feel about the "YOUR kids" view of many general educators, yesterday someone came looking for someone in the department about a student that alerted his spidey-sense after a test. turned out the student was "MY" kid.... yeah... i still consider myself three weeks behind unfortunately. However, i was hired the day before school started, so i'm trying to not be too hard on myself.
i was paid this week, so i really shouldn't be in tonight....
