To date, over 1,900 US troops have died in Iraq during the "war on terrorism." This week PIERRE RAYMOND, my roommate and friend, became one of them. Indeed this has become a strange time in my life. I've never had someone this close to me die. I'm having a difficult time making sense of anything. I don't even know how I really feel. It's more like a stale not-feeling.
Because of this I'm having a hard time finding words, So I will just share with you something his brother wrote:
So as I send this out to all of you, remember the best friend and brother that would make the most decadent of decadent desserts with chocolate, always have your back if you were in trouble, would give you his last dollar in his pocket if you needed it, give you advice if you needed it, a shoulder to cry on and help you stand up when you were our weakest.
Pierre Antoine Raymond may you be safe, happy and helping someone else wherever you are.
I want to thank all those who left their condolences in my last journal entry.
