i've decided to repave the way after the blatant, self-indulgent trainwreck that was my previous blog! it's okay i can admit it. everyone has their off days! but this'll be shorter. i tend to blab a bit if i get past a certain point. short and to the point is the way forward. haha.
got my first two college assignments! a definite reinforcement that another year has begun. one's an astrophysics one due for monday, and the other's a partial diff. equations one, due for friday. they should be okay, i think. we haven't done enough for them to be very hard. let's hope i'm right! but i still don't really get the whole fitting in thing. it just doesn't seem to really work. there's a new humanist society set up that i might try to get involved in, but it always seems to be strained and awkward. it's easier in the online world, i think. you don't really have to worry about how you sound or how you look. everyone speaks the same language, in the same tone: Unicode. i have a slight speech impediment, from a tough childhood, and i think that's the reason why i find it difficult to talk to people. in chat, i don't use the mic, cos it just terrifies me. i have decided to try and work on it though. it's gotten to ridiculous proportions now. same with phone calls. something must be done. i just don't know what though...
I also got some really sad news today. i guy i know, he's a little older than my brother, around 17, died the other day. in his sleep, thankfully, from respiratory complications, but it's a pretty big blow. i wouldn't say we were really friends or were close or anything, but i'd seen him around the place a good bit, even had a few conversations with him. it's hard to get past the fact that something like that could happen to someone so young. a terrible loss, especially for his family. i think stuff like this just reinforces, more than ever, my atheism. the justifications from the church, in matters like this, for someone so young being "taken" just don't come close to being adequate. for me anyway.
see. short and sweet! that's about all that's happened to me in the past while. difficult, but hey. we all have ups and downs. this past few months just happen to be a blue period (that's the only art reference i know!). the attached photo is of my cat Eddie. about 16 months old. he's named after the mascot of metal legends Iron Maiden! i think his fur shows his metal leanings! (i'm fully aware that cats do not have musical leanings, i just think it's cool). the other two pics are: one's a miniature statue of Phil Lynott, legendary frontman of Thin Lizzy, and the other is of my Zelda t-shirt. retro gaming at it's finest! that's me for now anyway! peace out y'all
