The Tequila and Tacos at 790 N. High St. next to Haiku finally put their sign up to officially name their spot. They apparently have been open for a week, it's just been hard to tell without the sign. A barfly I often see at other places was there raving about it and said it was his fifth time there. The official name is Rojo Tequilaria, and appears to be an upscale Mexican restaurant. The interior still has the exposed red brick and tries to accentuate it, giving a overall fairly fiery red quality to the place. It has a fairly long bar and a descent table section. The bar has a fairly big liquor selection, and making sure to stock most of the major Mexican beers as well. The menu is broken down into several sections, the first being Starters such as Chili Con Queso, Queso Flameado, Cevehis de Rojo and others. Then two salads are listed, a Ensalada de Casa and Mexican Chopped Salad. The types of Huevos are offered as well. Under Tacos & More is just that with the usual Tacos, Tacos Pescado, Burritos, Tamales and Quesadillas . The Entree Platters has items such a Carne Asada, Carnitas, Pollo en Mole and Camarones en Salsa Rojo. The possible problem for this spot maybe the fact that it sits back from the street a bit, without a patio to draw people in like next door Haiku. Hopefully the new sign and word of mouth of a new Hispanic place in the neighborhood will draw people to this new spot. The telephone there is 291-Rojo.
