Ryan Adams Rocks!!!
8/2/06
Well, it happened. I saw my first Ryan Adams show last night. You know...there have been times in my life that I felt like I was in the company of genius. Last night was one of those times. Ammie turned me onto Ryan. I had heard of him and knew a couple songs but noone ever really totally turned me onto his music til Ammie came around. She has turned me onto so many great things...and Ryan is one of the best. I have totally fallen in love with his Rock N Roll CD. True fans have other faves but this one does it for me. The other cool thing is our friends Michael and their friend Clint went with us. Michael bought the tickets for me to give to Ammie for her birthday. At one point she leaned over to me and told me her cheeks were hurting. How cool is that! Michael turned Ammie onto Ryan years ago as she recently did me. He is a huge fan.
Ammie and I started with cocktails at Roberts Western world... Great place if you want to see what Nashville's real country music scene is all about. Good food, great drinks and tattooed waitresses hooking up the locals, tourists and wanderers. Then it was on to the show. Double rum and cokes and we were ready. Opener was Ryan's guitar player with Ryan on drums. It was cool but we wanted Ryan full on so we went out to chill with the boys. Michel is hilarious. We talked about our college days. We were telling stories and remembering shows from the past. Apparently our excitement was working for Ammie...her comment was "Why do I all of a sudden want to fuck both of you!?!" it was great. Michael commented that he thought I was cute back in the college days. We knew each other but not well back then. It was funny, we are all very comfortable around each other. Besides telling me I was cute, he grabbed my ass as we entered the Ryman and kissed me at the end of the show. What?...
I am a little bit curios, I admit it. Fabulous people simply intrigue me. I can't help it. One of the many, many reasons I love Ammie so much is her fabulousness!!!
It was Jerry Garcias birthday yesterday. Ryan acknowledged this and played two dead songs, He's Gone and Warf Rat. These were highlights for me although I think Ammie and the boys were not as into it. But for me, still exploring Ryan's music and not knowing a majority of the songs played, it was nice to sing along to something. The versions were rocked up and superbly done. It brought back memories of my time on the road following the dead. Those were magic times.
He played one song off Rock N Roll. I called it....:-) Wish You Were Here is an SG anthem IMHO. If you have never heard the song - go listen to it now. Caution - Ryan has a rotten mouth and this song proves it!!!
Continued 8/4/06...
The Ryman is an amazing place to see a show. If you have never been there...I urge you to find a show and go.
Overall a great experience in Nashville. Thanks to Ammie, Michael, Clint & Ryan for making it special.
Looking forward to seeing my baby and her boys tonight for some bowling and smiles. My girls will also be in tow. Another family in the making night. Yay!!!

Such a wonderful night, in such fantastic company. One of many memories I will treasure for ages. In that group, the fabulousness is so thick you could cut it with a knife....who would a person NOT want to have sex with???
