Story of the day......................
For those of you who know.....there are fires burning all around the San Diego area
They started to evacuate one of the towns that borders the base (on the opposite side of where we live) but judging by the fact that we were without power for most of the night last night I am kind of worried
I am keeping all of you who are in the evactuated areas in my heart right now. I hope that everyone will come out of this safe and sound
*UPDATE* 22 Oct 2007 (2000hrs)
They have started to evacuate parts of the base so I am packing up and getting ready to go. Pete is on standby to go help out with his unit so if I'm evacuated I won't be seeing him for I don't know how long
WIsh us luck
*UPDATE #2* 23 Oct 2007 (1230hrs)
There are 2 independent fires now burning on the base. Both are North East of where we are living. We also have the Rice fire burning to the East and the Witch Creek fire burning to the South. Still on stand by to evacuate..........I'll keep updating as long as I am here with a computer to type on.
*UPDATE #3* 23 Oct 2007 (1900hrs)
Many of my neighbours are starting to pack up and leave on a volunteer basis right now. It is kind of haunting to watch but I am not planning on leaving just yet. I figure that there is no reason for me to be out on the roads and possibly slowing down emergency vehicles. There are 2 housing units on base that have been evacuated on the Fallbrook side so I think that I should start loading my car "just incase". I have to say - it is times like this where I am thankful that the military has taught me to evacuate in a hurry if I need to though. I have talked to PiratePete and he is still ok......he is on stand by to go assist with the fires of course but for now we just sit and wait
As of 2am this morning we evacuated
As for our house - I am lead to believe it is ok thus far.
WE ARE HOME!!!! The house is still standing and there is lots of smoke damage but I don't care - I STILL HAVE A HOME!!!
