Story of the day...................
Well - after a long and emotional 3 weeks I am finally here in California. I don't even know where to begin with everything so I am just going to ramble on for a while.
THE DRIVE:
It was long but not as bad as I thought it would be. The piggies did very well considering they had to endure 3 days of nothing but car. I have learned that I never wanna have to live in the desert because it looks like a depressing place to be every day (no offence to those of you who do live there)
THE ARRIVAL ON BASE:
I just wanted to cry the day we got here because everything from our housing to the school Pete was attending was all fucked up. They didn't have a house for us and told us we weren't approved for one. Luckily that was all sorted out as I am sitting here in our 2 bedroom house typing this to you. Petes school was somthing out of the twighlight zone. The day we got here we found out he was starting school that night rather than the following Monday we thought. Worst is that he wasn't allowed to come home for the first 2 weeks and if he was it was only for a couple of hours or so (and he had to be in uniform - and not allowed to leave the base).
THE PEOPLE HERE:
Perhaps it is just because I don't know anyone here at all but I have found the people on this base to be rather rude (no disrespect to those of you who may reside here) but I haven't met a friendly person yet and it is starting to get to be lonely here. The staff for some places here are idiots - like the guy that was in charge of providing me with my military ID card. His little fuck up has cost me Medical coverage for the past 4 months and it has taken Pete a while to sort things out to finally get the proper coverage issued.
LIFE HERE:
I'm sure that once I get to know some people and get into a routine of some sort things will get better but right now I am in a bit of a depression funk and I don't like it. I especially hate not working....it is killing me to know that I have a perfectly good Paramedic license in my wallet that I can't use because of some silly paperwork. Petes family have been fantastic with me in trying to get me feeling like part of the family but I am still in the transitional phase and it is just gonna take some time. I missed a best friends wedding over the weekend and it was a big blow to the heart because it was the one thing I was looking forward to for the summer but just wasn't good timing for us. Our internet was to be hooked up last week but like all things here was fucked up in communication and wasn't delivered till last night and hooked up today.
THE FUTURE:
With all that has been going on, Pete and I have been working on a future together and one day hope to announce a little widow/pirate/samurai on the way
I hope that everyone has been well over the last little while and I am extremely happy to finally be back on here!!
Missed You All!!!
