The World I Woke Up To
I woke up to the world this morning,
my brain imploded,
but my mouth kept yawning.
The night was over, no more illusions.
With it went my infantile confusions.
It was day now,
things were bright,
Nobody could stumble in this degree of light.
I cracked an elbow,
and stretched my skin,
I'de survived youth's wash and spin.
I'de learnt of people dying,
and thought - that could be me,
I should be crying.
It was time to hang up my own clothes,
devote my day to others' woes.
I reached the laundry without much trouble,
only to find I'd burst my bubble.
Washed clothes are heavy and damp,
on top of this there was no lamp.
My body fumbled,
my stomach grumbled,
Alas! My mind had stumbled.
The problem being,
it was still morning,
and i could not help but keep on yawning.
