Before I go to bed, I feel the need to promote some amazing hip hop: Weerd Science.
Now, in explaining WS, I run the risk of placing focus on less important areas. That sounds confusing, but I'll explain...It's a rap group fronted by white boy extraordinaire Joshua Eppard. He is the brother of an incredibly talented guy, Joey Eppard, who fronts the band 3. 3 was set to take the national stage a decade ago at the Woodstock '94 festival. You SHOULD know who 3 is, but things didn't go as planned. They're still incredible.
Weerd Science is crazy, disturbing, yet interestingly fun to listen to. The beats are catchy. The raps are very, very well thought-out. I'm something of a hip hop "snob", so I know good raps when I hear them. Good lyrics don't mean shit if you don't have a good voice or, more importantly, a good style. Joshua has both. If you don't like "rap", a term most people use when describing radio rap bullshit and not understanding that good hip hop exists, give this a shot. Read more, you'll be intrigued.
Now I take the focus off of the music: What is Joshua Eppard's claim to fame? Well, he's part of another band who's been gathering a great deal of worship from fans around the country, even the world. The band he plays with writes albums that are roughly based on a storyline that is featured in a comic book authored (but not illustrated) by the band's front man. If you haven't figured it out by now, you probably have never heard of Coheed and Cambria. Josh is Coheed's drummer.
I was skeptical of WS at first, just as I'm always skeptical when a band member breaks off and makes a solo record. I listened, and I was intrigued. This is great, great shit. If you're interested in checking out some stuff, please do message me and I'll hook you up with some tracks.
