I am beginning to enjoy posting, mostly because I look forward to reading the comments that people leave for me. Thanks commenters
Perhaps it's a bit early for me to announce this, but I'm writing a book. Now, I say it might be early because I've made the same declaration quite a few times previously...but this time, I'm dropping all of my self-consciousness, and I'm trying to stay with it. Previously the smallest things would hold me back - if I couldn't figure out the name of a character, I'd give up. Right now I've got a plot outline and two different intros...It's kind of like an artist making case study sketches. I want to find the right tone, the right form - basically, the right voice.
I'm going to need feedback on my story. I will be writing it chapter by chapter, so I could really use some readers. Anybody want to volunteer? I suppose I should give you a brief summary of the plot before I ask you to read my work, so here goes:
The main character is a man, tentatively named Daniel Brownstone, who commits suicide. Rather than going to Heaven or Hell, as you may expect, he ends up in the Greek underworld Hades. He encounters mythical beings, gods, and goddesses on his journey.
Like I said, it's in it's earliest stages. I'm still working on his purpose, and what he hopes to accomplish hanging out in a mythological Greek place. It will come. That's just a preview to maybe stir up some interest in my potential test readers. If I manage to stretch it out to novel length, I'll either try to get it published or self-publish it. If it's short story length, I'll try to submit it to some publications that feature short stories.
In other news, I learned that I am, in fact, what the English call a "cheeky" guy. That's exciting. Thanks, Emma, for that bit of info.
