the sun will always light up the day. even on a cloudy and overcast day, the sun will always light up the day. but the moon will not always light up the night. sometimes it doesn’t come out until sunrise or later, and once a month there is just no reflection towards earth. does the moon abandon us? is it not as reliable as the sun? or do we have the wrong expectations of both the night and the moon itself? we expect it to be our beacon in the night, to shine through the darkness at us. but maybe we need to embrace the darkness. maybe we are the ones turning our backs on the moon. by projecting our own agenda on the bringer of the tides, we forget the true purpose of the moon in our lives. the moon brings the tides, and the tides bring the wind, and through the water, and the air, and the fire of the sun comes all that we know of as life. how often do we turn our backs on that which does not suit our concious desire, and only acknowledge that which does? as soon as something proves itself to not be a means to our own ends, we toss it aside as if it were worthless and unwanted. now, all that rubbish that has been discarded has become our world. it comprises what we see, it comprises what we hear, it has become what we are. and in turn it has become what we expect, what we look for. what we strive for. what we desire for. what we desire to become. thank you moon, for the tides. thank you moon, for the air currents. thank you moon for those moments of darkness in which to give rebirth to a new light. those moments of darkness when we stumble over that which we do not see, those times when we have to pick ourselves back up on blind faith; not that the light will return to light our path, but that we have the strength to perservere, to carry on and walk in the darkness. to carry ourselves through the times we cannot see, and just push forward. this is hope. this is faith. then again, this is merely the ramblings of a man in the dark. without hope, without faith, there just is. and it is darkness.
