there's not much I like better than a good garage sale day. I got some nice old metal organizing drawers for the garage for 4 bucks, an old school full face helmet for a dollar (I collect old metal flake and goofy helmets for garage decorations) that looks like this without the windscreen:

but the best part is a set of 40mm Dellorto carburetors for a type I VW motor. manifolds & linkage, but no air filters for a hundred bucks. They go for $500-$700 a pair used & 40mm are the perfect size for the baja's 1910 motor. Yippie! They're very similar to weber IDFs, but supposedly a little smoother running overall. They look like this:

I'll get better gas mileage, smoother part throttle running and more power than the single weber 44 that's on there now. A single carb means super long intake runners where the fuel falls out of suspension. Long runners are good for low end torque but that's it.

as for pursuing some technical hobby to death and dishing about it in various online venues - got it covered. not motorcycles yet - nice try with that, though! (like we don't know that chicks talking bike hits your eyes and instantly morphs into dirrrty talk.) xo
