I'm a little sad about this whole business. First, before anyone decides to drop me from their friend list allow me to make 2 brief statements, please.
1. I absolutely abhor both racism and rape.
2. If your view is that symbols and depictions of either should be removed whenever they pop up or sneak past whomever is charge (here or elsewhere), I totally respect that view and don't think it's at all an unreasonable one to hold.
in the spoiler is my probably boring, but unpopular view on taking down Nana's set and removing her from the site, skip it if you'd rather.

So here's my take:
There are lots of kids who dabble in nazi imagery because it gives them a feeling of power and rebellion. The greater portion of the power that those symbols hold, even for the ones who use them, lies in the hands of those who are outraged or indifferent, or some measure in between, in other words, us not them. I understand and have deep compassion for people who wish to never see references to that sort of thing and I would love a world where that might be the case. But when it comes to the surface, trying to push it back under only adds to the power of the imagery for those to whom they appeal. I don't know if anyone is truly evil to the core, I certainly think some are unreachable by human effort, but I do not think that 19 year old girl was one of those by any long shot. I'm not saying that anyone here could have changed her view on the stuff, and I'm not saying that she should have been allowed to continue to represent SG, but I am saying that I do not believe that the way it went down- either from the majority of people's comments or from the way she was abruptly archived gave much thought to the possibility of an actual discourse, whether with her directly or as an aside about the set (that she would be likely to follow, obviously). I don't think there is a single weapon more powerful than reason and logic when coupled with a simple respect for another human being's ability to reason. I've known people to grow out of that white power nonsense, I think most who get involved probably do. But the ones who don't sure thrive on being ostracized, they love it. With a little effort, self-restraint, reason, concern and (gasp!)respect for the person underneath the misguided beliefs, eventually they'd feel like they were wearing a dunce cap rather than a powerful icon. Btw, I'm not a pacifist or anything. There is a time for cracking heads, and nazis do like to help the clock's hands along. no sympathy from me if that's the case, I can assure you.
I guess I don't really have a lot to say about the rape fantasy bit, I can't conceive of the appeal, but just look at my last blog for a fetish that defies comprehension. (by the way, I actually did write Jeremy back and told him I would make another video for him - boy does THAT intrigue you if you're a stranger just wandering in here, huh?) I highly doubt that anyone would cultivate a fantasy to be raped due to seeing it portrayed in art. I do however believe that whatever it is that drives a person to commit rape doesn't have nearly as much to do with faulty logic as what drives a racist. And I really can't see imagery driving somebody to rape who otherwise would not.
I don't care to be guarded against being offended. If racism or rape were a common theme at SG I wouldn't be hanging out here, I assure you. I think it would have been wise to reject the set in the first place, but I'm not the least inclined to think the staff wanted to endorse racism or rape. I just think that humankind isn't yet so hopeless that we cannot have frank discussion about edgy art, or what is or is not art. But we sure can't do it too well without the actual art. (or non-art if that's your take of course)
-And while I don't agree with taking the set down once it went up, I really don't think it's an outrageous act of censorship or anything, either. I'm sure it was a tough decision, but I think the easier choice was made, rather than the one with greater potential that's all. Maybe I would have done the same. especially if you all were paying me to be to provide your entertainment.
Now, say hello to my "friendly mutton chops". That is what the style is called, I guess they are friendly because they're joined together by the stash? Anyhow, I really really like them.
