The state of Nevada has grudgingly extended me permission to drive my mustang. Today it finally passed smog with room to spare after lots and lots of tuning and fixing things I did wrong over the last few months. So what now? Package that cute lil carb up for next year this time, that's what. I'm not putting the webers on right away though, if at all. 2 reasons 1. I really bought them for the fastback. 2. Although I had figured I'd use them in the meantime, that's just complicating things and a whole lot of extra work tuning if they'll eventually just come back off. Tomorrow if I have time I'll pick up a rebuild kit for a 650 double pumper I have on the shelf. That's sensible yet still reasonably devious. Next up - I need brakes, those are important. old fashioned manual drums all around, and way out of adjustment too. The car pulls hard to the left when you look at the pedal funny. It stops on a dime alright, just not this dime. you gotta slow way down then look for another one on the road a little further along. and the shocks I could pretty much just remove to save weight, they haven't been doing their job since the eighties I think. steering is kinda wandery, but that's ok for now, I'm a little wandery myself & I seem to have gotten along just fine like that. Oh, the cop car wheels are history. I found someplace that sells repros of the original 14x5s in the 15x7 size I wanted. looks much better, no less ghetto just from a cooler ghetto. I did have to paint them black cause they came in primer, so they look new. oh well, just need to wear 'em in is all. I think the more I travel sideways the quicker they'll weather and develop a patina. more exposure to oxygen and road debris right? It just makes sense is all.

Just... wow.
(shakes head)
Just when you think you've heard of all the fetishes that people can have, something like that comes along...
