Listening to Ones All Over The Place right now makes me very excited to see Don Caballero next month.
Or, as I like to call the new lineup, Non Caballero. Other goofy names include:
Don Sorta-llero
Don Creta-llero
Don Ca-Bouriza
Che Caballero
Damon Caballero
So yes, while I feel it's questionable (if not offensive) for Damon Che to continue under the Don Cab name without at least Ian Williams, I'm excited to see the live show. I've heard a bootleg, and it sounds fucking AWESOME.
For that matter, I'm rather amused that Ian Williams is even bitching about it. I think Don Cab was just as much him as it was Che, but Che's at least had the common decency to release a fucking album or two since the group broke up. I love Storm and Stress more than I love Don Cab, but where the fuck did that go? And Battles...jesus, Battles sounds like fucking brilliance on paper, but we've been waiting forever for what turns out is just going to be an EP.
Is anyone really surprised that Che started working under the Don Cab name again, really? I mean, Bellini was cool, but it was basically the American version of Uzeda, which is fine (Uzeda fucking kicks ass), and The Speaking Canaries was also amazing, but there was just something missing.
Of course, we'll never see a reunited Che/Williams/Banfield/Morris Don Cab....*sigh*
