A Note From the Editor
Interesting note about science. Most scientists are seen as atheist. That is, they are the anti-religion, constantly trying to disprove religion, and therefore, the existence of God. But to be a true scientist, you have to believe that all things are possible. Therefore, to be a true scientist, you accept that God may in fact be real.
Nothing is for certain in the world of scienceExperiments are constantly recreated, retried for mistakes, new theories are constantly being drawn up, disproving the old, and there is always a possibility. Strangely though, the language of science is that of numbersA language where there are no mistakesNo room for possibilities.
The point I am trying to make, is that science, for all intensive purposes is just as flawed as religion. To be honest, there really isnt much difference between them. One describes a higher power through words and traditions, the other through numbers and reason. But we are all trying to find answers to the same questions: How did we get here? Why are we here? Is there more?
In case you are wondering, I am agnostic, and would think of myself leaning on the science side of the religion-science spectrum. But it is always best to realize ones own faults when in a debate
Back from Vacation
Our vacations always seem to be one day too long. I was ready to come home yesterday The car ride today seem to take an eternityWe drove from Sedona, Arizona, back homeIt was one hell of a long ride. Strange thing about traveling in a carYou seem to lose track of all time. I mean, there is a clock in the car, but time seems to act differentOr rather, your body and mind seem to act differently in respect to timeEspecially when you are crossing time zones. There is no definition of time while in a car. Thirty-minutes could really be an hour, depending on traffic, lights, authority, etc. It is all very disorienting.
Anyway, with that, I give you pictures of from the vacation. I have tried to choose what I think are the best ones, and that do not contain any members of my family, not counting myself. So all in all, I deemed a little less than half of our picture collection as post worthy. I hope you enjoy them.

Las Vegas was a nice little visit as always. My aunt and her husband were in town visiting as well. It was great to see them since they live in Pittsburgh we rarely get a chance to visit. I ended up making some bets through my dadAlready lost my first one. Damn you SDSU! You had the game in your grasp and gave it away with little time left on the clock. Grrrrrr! I also have a bet that the Padres will win at least 78 games this upcoming season. That better be a sure-fired win or else I will be extremely disappointed.
Zion is absolutely, breathtakingly, gorgeous. I would highly recommend that all of you, at some point in your lives, go there. It was stunning in the winter, and the weather couldnt have been more perfect. It had just snowed there and we got nothing but clear days, although they were awfully chillyLow 30s in the shade during the morning.
The experience I had there was simply amazing. It is hard to put into words how humbling this place is. You feel completely insignificant among these gravity-defying feats of the EarthFeats, which were completed long before your existence and which will be there long after your death. It is no wonder why Natives and pilgrims alike worshipped the tall peaksIt is as holy a place as I can imagine.
Sedona was a very tourist town. Loads of little shops and so on. I ended up buying a couple pirate signs, which Ill post in my next update most likely. The shop I bought them at was my personal favorite thereIt was loaded with all sorts of cool stuff, much of which I think the general population would find as strange or quirky. Too bad all the clothes they sold were for women Other than the shop, the little city left much to be desired. We ate at the Cowboy Club. Our waitress was beautiful; Hispanic with a very cute face and an amazing face. In the words of Murs, High five for Jesus. Keep making them like that. Aside from the waitress, the restaurant was very mediocre, sub-par even. My moms chicken was very bland, my dad had, as he called it, The toughest steak hes ever had, and I had a gumbo featuring buffalo. It was something fun to try, but I dont think Ill ever bother ordering it again. Kind of disappointing when the best part of the dinner was the pre-meal breadbasket.
The Sports Arena
To the Aztecs: How could you lose that game? Blowing a ten-point lead half way through the second half? Giving away passes with minutes to go? Just plain losing the ball while dribbling? A horrible inbound pass with 3 seconds and change left to go that ruined any chance at a win? Learn how to finish a game. Good lord!
To the Padres: Im still not overly thrilled with your off-season. I liked the direction you were heading, but you guys really confused me at the end. I had thought that, for once, you were going to give these young guys their chances to shine, but with the signing of numerous veterans, Im not sure if I like where things are heading. I still think they will contend for winning the division, but I doubt they will be contenders in the playoffs.
To the Chargers: What. The. Fuck!?!?!? You guy let a top 10 quarterback go. You didnt even get a draft pick or anything for him. Just let him go. I dont give a shit if you have doubts about his shoulder injury. This is the man that lifted the team to greatness. Not just once, but twice. It wasnt a fluke. He was coming into his own and could very well be considered as one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. Way to blow that situation.
Furthermore, what the hell are you guys planning on doing this off-season? We have tons of cap roomWhy not sign some decent free agents? Have you forgotten that we have arguably the best halfbacks in the league, and that he cant do shit when he has to make cuts 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage? How about beefing up that pathetic offensive line of ours? Or how about improving our horrendous secondary? Why not sign some cornerbacks? Or better yet, why not go after a safety that can level receivers? Remember that one guyWhat was his name again? Oh yeaRodney Harrison. Get someone that plays like thatSomeone that can really punish a receiver. You get a safety that can lay a receiver flat on his ass and you will never have to worry about one crossing the middle.
The Wrap-Up
WhewKind of got lost in a rant there on the Chargers. Well, Im sure I have forgotten lots of thingsIf I remember any of them, Ill be sure to include them in the next update.
With that, I bid thee farewell.

What makes science more credible is that when it comes down to it at the end of the day, religion is more myth based than science. Scientists atleast put forth the effort to give conclusive reasoning behind their statements, whereas anyone can open up a bible and find sections to back their points up. And like you said, scientists realize that they may be in fact wrong. On a forum I post at, there was a Christian guy trying to disprove anyone that questions his religion, but did so by basically saying he KNOWS he is right and that anyone who disagrees is going to hell.
Which is why those with spirtitual emphasis seem better. We can't be certain about what lies after this life, but instead of preparing for that day why not improve yourself and help make those around you happy?...nah, let's grab our "Get Outta Hell Free" passes while we can.
your pictures are beautiful. i went to zion when i was about....13? i really need to go back
